The Sanctuary of Taj Al-Mulk - The
Prayer Chamber
The simple and elegant construction of the interior of the prayer chamber provides a further contrast
of style with the larger, older one on the other side of the mosque. The architect has relied on the use
of golden section here as heavily as on the outside of the building. The picture shows one corner of the
chamber which emphasises the traditional chahar taq
style of construction and also provides an excellent example of the tri-lobed squinch which increased
in popularity at this time.
