The interior of the cathedral is richly and lavishly decorated.
The interior of the dome is covered in gold-leaf. The dome itself is built in the traditional Islamic form. Shah Abbas I had decreed that all places of worship within Jolfa should be built with domes so that they could be easily distinguished.

The paintings in many of the Armenian churches are notable for the degree of detail with which they depict the most appalling tortures and suffering. The torments of the damned in the painting of the last judgement are matched by the sufferings of Armenian martyrs at the hands of the Byzantine Greeks which are depicted in a line just above the dado.
